Fun Family Day

Yesterday Dan had some free time from homework so we seized the moment and took Emma out for a fun Sunday afternoon. After church we took a walk in the park and then we introduced Emma to ice cream!

Covergirl! Dan bought this dress Mother's Day Weekend
last year right after we learned that "Baby Riggs" was a girl!

Emma loves the outdoors!

I'm not sure about this...
This is her new "I don't like it" and "I'm done" face
(inspired by Angelina Jolie or Octomom...)
she doesn't look like me, she doesn't like chocolate...she
might not be my child after all!
Then it was bath time (where splashing is all the rage)
...and bedtime where I am most "behaved"

Thunder over Louisville

This past Saturday was a big event down here in Kentuckiana!  Thunder over Louisville is a big deal around here consisting of an all afternoon air show on the river and then the largest fireworks display in North America.  This is NOT your average fireworks show.  It lasts over 30 minutes and is choreographed to music that is played over loud speakers.  The fireworks are launched from the 2nd street bridge as well 2 floating barges.  The air show is insane.  The year we went they dropped Navy Seals into the river and then picked them back up with the helicopter.  You can see video footage of the air show at allthingslouisville.com

With that said, I've been a scrooge ever since I went the first year.  Yes I love corndogs more than I should, Yes the show is amazing, and NO you will NEVER see fireworks like this anyplace else BUT the crowds are insane.  ALL types of people flock here to see this part of derby festival and there is only so much redneck plumbers butt crack this girl can stare at before going insane.  With all that said, Emma and I had to leave Dan home so he could get some studying done and went to the Indiana side of the river for some derby fun.  We watched the air show in a less crowed spot with firends and were home in bed by the time the fireworks started (an old scrooge).  The 2009 fireworks was on YouTube.  Check it out!

This is the super cute dress Emma wore to daycare on Friday when it 75 and sunny. I thought it was the perfect dress. Well, scratch that. There were 2 other more "perfect" dresses but sometime between last month and now my little pork chop out grew them! It seems Emma is doomed to be in t-shirts and jeans. After a few hours of wearing this, she had one of her infamous diaper explosions. She was wearing PJs when I picked her up. *sigh* At least I've learned to take the cute pictures in the mornings!

"it's mom with the camera again!"
"tasty looking camera"
playing with her aquarium
"okay just one smile and that's it!"
Maybe some day there will be a picture of Emma on my "made" bed :-)

Time to Play!

Grandma and Grandpa Riggs came down for an Easter visit and the girls (Emma and Daisy) couldn't have been happier!  They are still looking around for them!  I think Daisy might be clinically depressed, she really likes Doug.  We had such a great time while they were here!  My fridge has never held so much food and my lawn has never looked better!!  Tonight Emma practiced "driving" her new car that Grandma and Grandpa brought her.  Maybe she can teach her daddy how to parallel park :)  This girl is growing up so fast!!  It seems she is doing something new everyday.  Crawling is just around the corner and I tell you I am scared!  Here are a few pictures from playtime tonight.

"just 5 more minutes of play time mom, PLEASE!"
"I love my new car from grandma and grandpa Riggs!"
"Daddy checkin' the oil"
"wrestlin' with dad"
"my new favorite game, empty my toy boxes"
"I love play time!!"
"fun in my rocking chair"

Rotten Strawberry

The recent chill in the air means that Emma has to wear a coat again (she hates it).  She has outgrown her other coats, and I was not looking forward to buying a coat she will wear just a few days and outgrow.  What a nice surprise to find this cute little coat with strawberries in her closet!  I love how the hood makes her look like a strawberry.  It was a Christmas present from Aunt T.T. (I think).  I hadn't noticed it because it was in the back with all the 12 month clothes. Yes, that's right. My little baby is in 12 month clothing. *sniff*

Doesn't she look like the sweetest strawberry in the patch? Until you try to snap her in.....then you find out she isn't ALL sugar. There is some definite spice in there too! It's not just the carseat. She finds being strapped into her highchair appalling as well. As soon as you put her in the carseat or highchair she starts bucking like a wild pony and screaming like a baboon.  She is not one to keep her opinions to herself.  She gets that from her father.  *wink*

This is the closest I got to a smile

just prior to fist shaking and screaming to get out..

Early Learning Center Pics

Thanks to Ms. Amy for sharing some of the pictures she took of Emma recently!  Emma has the best teachers ever!!  Emma loves her classroom and we are SO happy to leave her in such a great learning environment!  She does so many things (which is why I suspect she likes school more than home).  I can't put into words the peace of mind that comes with knowing that Emma is being well cared for AND having fun!
