Lake Cumberland

Last weekend I attended a scientific meeting at Lake Cumberland State Park. We rented a little cabin and Dan and Emma came along for some fun family time. Our friend and Emma's BFF "Suzie" came down on Sunday to spoil Emma ;) The lake is beautiful. It's a boating lake, not so much a swim lake so we didn't spend any time there. Emma had a blast on the playground and the indoor pool. We visited a riding stable, so Emma could see a "hoosie" up close and personal. Turns out it was too personal and Emma was too scared to touch one. It was a little boring at times, but I think being bored is healthy thing. It's been a long time since any of us have felt bored. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

We are in a Dora phase now. Adios Elmo :)
Me: Can't you ever smile for a picture
Dan: I can smile......
Emma: I want chocolate milk
Me: smile and say cheese and you can have your milk
this fake smile/growl is what I got....just like her father
where did my baby go?

Happy Father's Day 2010

My husband was born to be a dad. He is a natural. He is also wrapped firmly around my little girl's little finger, naturally. If you want to make a girl like me cry, show me pictures like these.

My daughter is the luckiest little girl on the planet. Happy belated Father's day to all fathers and father figures. You are loved :)

Emma-isms

In this video is a sneaky Emma who bangs on the
table with her drumsticks and then tries to distract
me with a sweet little "hi!" Also, heard is "juice box"
her current obsession, and RIGHT THERE (she
tells me where everything is, even my own clothes)

This is Emma cracking up at Daisy (in her pool)

More "Daisy in the pool" excitement.

A busy not-so-busy weekend

Do you ever feel like you had the busiest weekend and then realize you never even left your house? That was our weekend (okay so there are a few more hours left, but I'm already in my PJs). On Saturday we repaid the favor of watching Emma's buddies "Ronica" (Veronica) and "Rennie" (Reynold). The kids make English muffin pizzas, went swimming, rode their bikes, colored with side walk chalk, and a million other things. Emma had so much fun she woke up asking for them today. When they left her head hit the pillow like ton of bricks and so did ours! Here are some pictures from our weekend.

Emma loves her pool, especially when the dog isn't in it
so refreshing!
because it makes me laugh
After-swim snack
The nudist biker gang
then the gang went to the drive in theater to
catch an Elmo flick
checking out her new present from Nanny Pam on
Sunday morning. A gardening bag and a bag full of BUGS!
A centipede!
bug on mom's leg!
Emma loves red bugs
Emma loves green bugs
putting bugs in mom's shirt and up her pant legs
mom seeking revenge
"surprise attack"
giving her daddy a "banket," pillow, and kisses for his nap
she knows how to make him perfectly comfortable
Wishing a wonderful what's-left-of your weekend!!!

Making Sentences.....interesting sentences....

Last weekend my department had its annual Bat's game. I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I am a fan of the ball park hot dogs and popcorn :) Emma is a fan of the carousel. So family Riggs went to the ball field.

Before the game I picked up Emma and brought her back to Dan's lab which was having an informal meeting/snacking/socializing thing. As usual Emma got lots of attention walking in where everyone stopped to talk to her and listen to what she had to say.

They said things like, "hi Emma how are you? Wow, you look just like your dad. My goodness you have gotten big. You are such a sweet little thing."

What does Emma respond?

"Mommy went TOOOtie out her buTT!"

For the record, she made that up.

Ready for summer!

Emma could not wait to go swimming in her new bathing suite. We filled the pool and let it warm to the perfect temperature. I asked Emma to strike a pose....

Wurk it out gurl!
Unfortunately, someone else found the pool before we got there and didn't feel much like sharing....................................

I literally had to drag her out of the pool and lock her in her kennel to keep her out. Emma laughed her diaper off.
