A moment of insanity and the Anthem 5K

Hey people of blogland....Did I tell you that I lost my dog gone mind a week or so ago? It was a biggie. I registered and paid for a 5K, 10K and 10 mile run. Oh that little trio is the triple crown race. It's all part of the build up to Derby. It's fun and all... Seems like a lot right? Nah! Not for me. At least not at that moment.. because then I registered and paid for the mini-marathon.
Yeah. It was nice knowing you too.

So, I ran the first race. The shortest.

Cue the panic

Signs of Spring

Today we had a thunderstorm complete with hail. I've given up on snow, but at least I got some ice!

Try to keep up

with this girl....

what Emma was thinking about as she was coloring...
Emma painting from our "procrasti-painting hour"
(where she was procrastinating going to bed and I was
procrastinating doing my work!)
she LOVES to paint
Emma making herself comfortable on Daisy's bed
Daisy isn't sure how she feels about this...discusses
a possible "trading" of beds with Emma
unfortunately, that deal fell through for Daisy
Just a few reasons why mommy needs a spa day:

when saying "poopy" is funny

and after all of this we still had time to make "giraffe poop" with her PlayDoh (her dad)....

Remember? Reflections and Perspectives of a toddler

Yesterday, Emma turned 2 and 1/2. Recently, she started doing this "total recall" thing were she recalls events from the day. She always starts with "remember..."

Usually, I'm like "yes you did, now close your eyes, no daddy didn't like that, it's night-night time, yes we did have fun, quiet time now, yes Daisy can be naughty, no more talking, GO TO SLEEP!!!!" (you get the picture).

Last night, I realized that these little story times are an excellent way to hear if she has learned her lesson and also to hear things from her perspective. It can get pretty funny. Here is a sample from last night..

"Remember when I poopied in the potty today? I poopy in the potty...daddy poopies in the potty, mommy poopies in the potty...(insert the name of everyone she knows) poopies in the potty....and Daisy poopies in the grass....I used to poppy in my diaper...but I'm a beg gurl (big girl) now....mommy's a beg gurl, Emma's a beg gurl, Daisy is a gurl....but daddy isn't gurl....he is a big boy..NO! he's a MAAAAAN! And sometime when I jump on him, I hurt his nuts..."

The end. She learned "nuts" from her father's high pitched beg gurl screams. The real end.

Valentine's Day, 2011

Emma decided to whip up some love paintings for some of her besties :) Yes, they are for Valentine's Day. No, I didn't mail them until today. Emma loves, loves, LOVES to paint! She is one creative gal. She was very excited to find paint, paint brushes and glue in the grocery bags.

She is very serious about her art
(the camera interrupts her creative process)
not too serious for too long...
Her two handed painting technique
(it goes great with her paint flinging technique)
one must be precise in the color combinations..
What? I'm not painting Daisy!?
"Oh, you saw that"
(technically, Daisy painted herself)
Presenting her daddy with her prized painting
(with glued-on-bow-tie pasta accents)

Sick, Busy, Updates

My once regular blogging has taken a back seat to our (or my) crazy schedule. I'm teaching a couple of night classes that are maintaining my coffee addiction. Nothing really new happening right now. Our biggest excitement right now is that Emma is a "pooping in the potty champion". Yesterday she yelled out to me "Mommy, I poop'ied in the potty. Bring me my chocolate and call daddy" That's right. Sound the parade! The poor girl has been home sick for two days with some type of flu. Yesterday she said, "Mommy I'm sick. My throat hurts. I need to go see Dr. Boel"
