Nanny's Garden

Emma just loves it at her Nanny and Bubba's! There is so much to do outside...so many flowers (to step on) and frogs (to chase)! I'm in envy of this garden. I have nothing short of the black thumb of vegetation death (aside from weeds of course).

modeling :)
look at that manicured lawn!
Emma's little friend...but he wouldn't let her touch him
This is where he lives... (note the gap in flowers in front
of the pond....I have no idea how that happened)
"come on Nanny" (she bosses her nanny around a little bit)

just stopping to smell the flowers

Travel Buddies...

12 hours there, 12 hours back of pure love :)

How I Spent my 31st Birthday...

In a car for 12 hours with 1) a wild almost 3 yr old 2) a wild 4 yr old labradoodle and 3) a 30 year old (not for long) husband who is against stopping for more than 5 minutes on the way....It wasn't pretty, we left at 2:30am and made it to Dan's parents around 2pm....

Exactly 31 years old...
check out THIS birthday candle
(what happens when you turn 50? Do you set the forest on fire to celebrate?)

Emma'isms

After telling Emma that the zoo was closed (because I didn't want to go), she went to school, asked her teachers if the zoo was closed, came home, and told me how excited she was that the zoo is OPEN! (yippie!). I asked her if she wanted to see the new Polar bear exhibit. The conversation...

Emma: What's a Polar bear?
Me: Well you know they are all white and very big. They live in the snow and love ice.
Emma: That's not a Polar bear.
Me: Yes, it is.
Emma: NO.ITS. NOT! (taking it a little too personal if you ask me)
Me: What is it then?
Emma: That's a SNOWMAN!!

Tonight I walked into the bathroom to find her with one hand holding the toilet lid open and the other delicately dangling my car keys over the ever-inviting toilet water.......

Me: Just what do you think you are doing?
Emma: No I wasn't (the lying thing is new) Can you give me back your keys mommy?
Me: I know exactly what you were thinking without you saying a word.
Emma: No.
Me: I can read alllllll the naughty things you think about doing (in the most convincing tone possible).
Me: You were going to drop my car keys in the potty.
Emma: (mighty impressed). Yes I WAS!!!
Me: That would make mommy very mad, Emma
Emma: No question about it!

Getting out of the car yesterday, I was trying to carry Emma...and all of her bags...and all of my bags.
I muttered..."Oh, Emma. Mommy needs a vacation".
She responds.... "I thought you said you needed a million dollars?" She hears everything!

And tonight....."Daddy is crying because he is a big baby"

Just when I was feeling appreciated...

Emma is a "thank you" queen. She will thank me for everything.
"Oh, mommy. You cleaned my room. Thank you mommy for doing that"
"Oh, mommy. Thank you for making me dinner"
etc. I was really feeling the love until bath time this weekend when I overheard:

"Thank You Water! Thank you for getting my butt clean"

So there it is. I am equivalent to the water that cleans her butt. Sheesh!

Workin' with Bubba

Every time Emma's nanny and bubba Riggs come to visit, I always have a handy list of what we will call "activities" for bubba. He was the kindest bubba ever to install my new blinds, new mailbox, and he cut the grass among other things. Emma just loves "helping" him.

wearing her pencil behind her ear, just like Bubba
(The feet you see kicked back in the recliner would be those of her dad.
You see the "activities" were originally his.

Bubba luve :)
I have plenty of "activity" ideas for the next visit, but I think broadcasting them on my blog may delay his return :) so they will be a surprise!

We are also SUPER thankful for the home cooked meals that Dan's mom made while she was here. I've been working a lot, and well, it's been a while. I gained 5 pounds while they were here. Five delicious pounds.
