Emma Graduates and starts Kindergarten!

Emma Grace Riggs, 4 yr and 11 months

The Leadership Award!  "One of the first to come up with an idea or plan that all the children follow"

Emma wants to be a "mommy" when she grows up.  However, right before her ceremony she told the entire class she did not want to be a mommy because she didn't to "pee out" her babies or have them "cut out of her belly."  To all those parents, You are welcome :)

Graduating beauty

And now, here we have our Kindergartener!  I won't lie. This was a difficult day for me.  She was SO brave According to her dad she just jumped out of the car in the carpool lane and walked inside.

Leaving for her big day (where did the time go?)

I am back!

It's been a long time away from blogging.  Time to catch you up.  I have slacked on the blogging, but not on the picture takings so hold onto your pants and enjoy the ride.

So in the last 4 months the Riggs' family moved from Louisville, KY (sniff) to Dothan, AL (where?), Krista and Dan started new jobs, the girls started a new school, and we have started to settle down in our new little town.  We have enjoyed visits from Susan and Nanny Pam & Bubba Mike.

My new school:  The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine http://www.acomedu.org/

She's not that impressed (except with the vending machines.  She love the vending machines)
All done! (This was just a frame when I interviewed)
 Faculty and Staff
 Aerial view
 First official badge

5 years after graduating I finally had this gem framed
My office (It's pretty bare right now)
The Simulation Lab (It's never to early to learn about the birds and the bees)
Our new home (The pool is updated now.  We were one of the first people to move in)
I was alone for a few weeks while Dan was taking care of closing on our house.  This is one of nightly walks.  Let me tell you, I miss a back yard for the dog.  I would literally beg Dan to come back every single night.
Grocery shopping with these two was torture an adventure
This little angel, is an angel no more.
She is crawling, and taking steps, and getting into all kinds of trouble

So far she has tried to eat dog food and a penny.  She loves dog food.
She has her own ideas about bed time
Rarely stops moving long enough to fall asleep
more updates to come....

In Loving Memory

Someday I will be able to describe my brother,
Someday I will be able to tell the world how great he was,
Someday I will talk about how much I miss him,
Someday, but not today.

Mila's 4 month stats on 12-12-12

Mila's pediatrician's appointment was on 12-12-12.  She weighed 12lbs, 12oz.  She was the talk of the entire office, seriously.

length: 23.25 inches

height:  25th percentile
weight: 24th percentile
head:  25th percentile

At her four month appointment, Emma was 2 inches longer and 3 pounds heavier (Emma is 100th percentile for height and weight).  We are also fighting the same right sided preference that Emma had; really trying to avoid the helmet.

Mimi (as we lovingly call her) is such a sweet baby.  Here are a few of her "recents"
1.  babbling (or battle cry as it sounds like at 5am)
2.  playing with her feet/sucking her toes
3.  SMILES (until bed time, then watch out, especially if your name is Dan)
4.  not a big eater, loathes the bottle, considers hunger strikes an appropriate tool for protest.
5.  loves mirrors, tolerates bath time, hates her crib
6.  drool machine

Christmas time

The beautiful reindeer was cooperative, however Santa's little helper wasn't
as thrilled about her headband.  Every year I swear I'm going all out with Christmas
cards.  Next year!
Just a random day of fun.  Emma recently became obsessed with tights.
If I knew this is how I could get her to wear skirts, I would have
introduced them sooner.  Mila is rocking her baby jeggings.  And Emma
decorating the Christmas tree.
Cookie time!
Christmas lights and Christmas trees.  Emma took her favorite ornaments
from the big tree to put on her little tree.
It's not Christmas if there isn't at least one meltdown!

Thanksgiving 2012

At Nanny Pam's!  The cousins rocked this holiday!

movie time everynight
(gretchan, Emma, Maddy)
Aunt Kiley giving the dirty bird a bath!
The girls with Nanny Pam at the D.C. zoo
(Gretchan, Emma, Maddy and Isabelle)
 Emma and Maddy
 Rock star/Movie star night
Going out to dinner with the whole gang...
(maybe we will order a pizza next time)
Presents! (We celebrate Christmas on Thanksgiving)

Emma loves her LeapPad2!  Thanks Nanny Pam!

Thumb sucker

Mila loves to suck her thumb! She is continually doing things that Emma never did. It is so fun to see her develop into her own little unique person. I was happy Emma never developed the habit. If I knew that thumb sucking would translate into going to sleep easier and sleeping through the night, I would have reconsidered that joy.

Election Day 2012-two fingers
the pointer finger is also delicious alone
And most recently sucking thumb alone with occasional eye pokes from
the previously mention and now neglected fingers :)
If it makes her happy, it makes me happy

She is pretty darn happy almost all the time.
