Happy Birthday Bubba!

Today is Emma's Bubba's (Dan's dad) birthday! Don't get me started on this guy. We think he is pretty amazing!!! Emma adores him and asks for him often. My neighbor's daughter also asks about him ever since that time he was working outside with his shirt off :) Happy Birthday to a guy who goes by many names (Husband, Dad, grandpa, Doug, Bubba, Hottie, Handyman) We hope you have a great day!!!

Yesterday Emma was sitting on my bed reading a book as I prepared to take a shower (with the door open of course). As I opened the shower curtain and stuck one leg in I heard my daughter's sweet little voice say..................."hey chunky butt."

I should first mention that "chunky butt" has been our little term of endearment for Emma. She has a cute little bum and every time she takes a "tubby" we say "hey chunky butt" and she runs around the house naked (I know it's weird, but its funny).

I think we may have to chose our words more carefully. So that's what I'll do.......I'll also start hitting the gym more regularly :)

As for Emma, it turns out she is also allergic to penicillin :( On the bright side, she is feeling fabulous! Today she said "Daisy is barking at the other dogs" I think it is her longest coherent sentence yet :)

Another Antibiotic Allergy?

Emma has an ear and throat infection. Oh, and my lifetime nemesis, pink eye. She started taking Augmentin yesterday because she is allergic to Omnicef-the "go to drug" for most kiddie bugs. Today after 2 doses (and 24 hours) on Augmentin her 102 fever finally came down to 100 (hey, it's a start). She also developed hives, similar to the ones she got with Omnicef. We are running out of things to treat her with. *sigh* I guess we will be back to visit our favorite pediatrician in the morning.

...but don't worry. Emma is 100% prepared with all this cool loot she found in the closet (note the trail of evidence behind her).

Well, she's more like 50% ready. She is in a serious nudist phase right now. It is a constant battle to keep a diaper on her at this point.

In the daycare parking lot, late as usual. I open Emma's door to get her out.

Emma: I took my shooooees off! (putting her hands up to high five me)

Me: (loud, overly dramatic sigh) You took your shoes AND socks off! Why did you do that?

Emma: It feels GUUUUUD! (fist pump)

The Stuff Nightmares are Made of

It has been blazing hot here the past couple of weeks, and as a result Emma has been couped up inside the house....., and as a result of that she has been naughty,.....very, very, naughty (as in mommy needs a time out naughty). So, yesterday, Emma and I went to meet our Fernandez friends at ChuckECheese's. I thought this would be a great way to burn some energy, and (selfishly) I thought it might induce an extra long nap in the afternoon :) Emma has entered a timid, shy phase recently so it took her some time to warm up. She really loved riding all the cars.

At this point Emma was terrified and begged to go home. I tried everything I could think of to make her feel better and not be scared. I:

1. Took her over to show her he wasn't real. She started shaking :(

2. Told her he was Barney's (she loves Barney) friend. She has since de-friended Barney from her facebook. Sorry Barney. Guilty by association.

3. I even told her that I would catch that darn mouse, take it to work, and experiment on it (just kidding).

Last night she woke up crying and told me that "ChuckECheese was in mommy's bathroom". She just doesn't understand how Minnie can be so nice and ChuckECheese so horrifying.

It's Party Time

A couple of weeks ago, Emma went to her friend Veronica's birthday party where we ate pizza and cake, attacked a pinata, and went swimming.....

Emma Humor

Last weekend we were watching a movie. It had a sad scene. Emma is pretty sensitive, and she started asking what was wrong. "Mommy happy?" (meaning mommy you aren't happy?). I then deflected onto Dan and told her that her daddy was a cry baby. Yes. I know. It wasn't very nice.

The week started and we all forgot about the movie until breakfast on Wednesday. Emma and I sat eating breakfast and out of the blue (and unprompted I might add) she says, "Daddy cries at movies" and I nearly died choking on my food.

That was the last we heard of it.

Until Friday, when Dan picked Emma up from school. As they were driving home, Emma (reportedly) starting singing, "Daddy cries at movies, Daddy cries at movies, Daddy cries at movies."

Dan said very indignantly "No. I. DON'T." and she laughed.

She is the funniest person I know.

Last Friday we went to Churchill Down's last meet after we were given super awesome tickets in a jockey suite. So we arranged for Emma to go home with one of her favs at daycare (thanks Casey!) and watched the races in style just like the rich folk do :)
