Maybe...

My mom thinks that Mila looks like me as a baby.  I guess only time will tell.  While we are both brunettes with blue eyes, she does NOT have my ears.  That is a good thing!

Baby Krista (I know, you can't stop staring at the ears)
I grew into them...kinda :)

Nanny Pam Visits

and to have fun with this one! (stinky zoo)
(from Toy Story cutout at the zoo) Love the face!

I loved having my mom around.  It has been a long 12 months since our last visit.  We miss you Nanny Pam!

New Mila Pics

Mila is now nearly 7 weeks (tomorrow)!  She is doing well.  She has developed GERD and Colic (lucky, lucky).  She likes to sleep all day and scream all night.

This thing is called the "nap nanny"  It is the ONLY thing she
will sleep in.  She cannot lie flat.

Mila is much more alert now.  She even smiled her
first smile at Emma the other day.  Which was generous
considering I find Emma pinching her feet when she is jealous.

One of her many "looks"  She makes so many different faces
she almost can look like a different baby in pictures. She
has crazy fluffy curly hair after it has been washed.

Most of the time (when she feels good) she is really quiet and just observes.
I'm convinced she thinks she is a hostage in a very weird home...which is
kinda true.

sometimes she looks like this...You do NOT want
to be in my home between the hours of 7pm and 12am.

A New, BIG Adventure

Four weeks into my maternity leave, I had the opportunity to interview for a teaching position I had applied to.....in Alabama.  So off we went!  I don't really know how to enjoy maternity leave.  The first time I was writing my dissertation, and this time I was preparing a seminar to present for my interview.  Oh well!

The trip was not the best ride I have ever had in the car, but it wasn't the worst either.  We had to stop every 2-3 hours to feed Mila, and Emma talked the ENTIRE time.  No nap, 12 hours, DVD player broke, talk, talk, talk.  You get it.  At one point, Dan told Emma we were not talking to her anymore, and that we needed a break.  So she just talked to herself and her baby dolls for the next 2 hours.  Deep breath.

Once you cross into Alabama from Tennessee there is a nice little rest stop that has a rocket!  Emma was pretty excited about it.

Once we got to Dothan, AL we checked into the hotel around 4pm.  Emma was excited to see there was a pool, and she quickly convinced Dan to take her swimming.  Subsequently, we used threats and bribes about that pool the rest of our stay :)

There were 2 tvs, which meant football on one, cartoons on the other (lucky me)

Mila claimed the first bed :)

My interview went great (even dinner with Emma and Mila that evening...gulp!).
This is the new school in progress during our "drive-by" on our way out of town.
This is what is will look like...

Dothan, AL is much smaller than we are used to now.  It is about 15 miles from the GA and FL state lines.  It has a population of 60,000 compared to Louisville's 600,000.  It takes about 5 minutes to drive from one end of the city to the next, but it is very nice.  It has a lot of parks, including a water park, AND is the site of the "largest peanut festival in the country"...(are there others?).  It is known as the "gateway to the gulf" as it is just 90 minutes from the Gulf.  The best part....NO PARKING METERS!

Dothan Civic Center

Opera House

The city is also known as the "city of murals."  This one is of the peanut festival.
This thing must be a big deal, we MUST check it out.  Hopefully, no one in
the family develops a peanut allergy :)  The whole place is surrounded by peanut (and cotton) fields.

Downtown Dothan

..compared to downtown Louisville.  We love Louisville.  I already miss it!
So naturally, we can't travel ALL that way within 90 minutes of the Gulf to not go to the beach!  So the day after my interview, we drove to Panama City.  We stayed at a great hotel that had a splash park for the princess.
And she LoVeD it!

She also like the hot tub (because it was shallow)

Spotted mommy on the 9th floor watching :)

Good Sports!

another view of the Holiday Inn Resort

Just an interesting side note....
When you take your eyes away from your daughter to look at
God knows what (a bikini maybe?)  :)....

.....the ocean will try to swallow your child.
  Just a warning.

One night they had hula dancers and this guy was Emma's favorite!

She had a great time!

So, I think that sums up most everything!  Until next time!

Mila 5 weeks stats

Today I took Mila to the pediatrician for her 1 month (5 weeks really) visit.  They checked her height and weight (she was a slow grower in the beginning) and gave her the 2nd hepatitis B vaccine.  On our way up to the office, I stepped onto the elevator and the woman next to me starting yelling, "lady get OFF this elevator! Get out!  Get out NOW!"  I'm sure my eyes were as big as saucers, and you better believe I did exactly as I was told (crazy lady!).  It turns out she had shingles and was just trying to protect baby Mila.  A little overboard, but much appreciated :)

weight:  9lb, 12 oz (50th percentile)
heights: 20.5 in   (25th percentile)

While Emma barely noticed her shots at this age, Mila did.  She screamed out and cried hysterically.  I'm not sure I've ever seen a baby stick her bottom lip out so far.  She would calm down only to remember and start crying again.  Emma was so happy it was Mila and not her (yes, she said that).

And I now leave you with two different quotes about my fair Mila from this week:
#1.  "My god, how did you manage to clone Dan two times?"
#2.  "It's just not fair!  You did all the work, and they pop out looking like him"

Volcanoes and Baby Sisters

Emma:  Mom, are there volcanoes in this world or just on tv?
Me:      Volcanoes are real, they are in our world.
Emma:  Can we take baby sister to the volcano?

:-)
