Little Swimmer
Last night Dan and I took Emma to her very first swimming lesson! I decided We agreed that since I took Emma to gymnastics it would be Dan who would put on the old swimming trunks and dive into this one (pun intended). :)
Emma was super excited about swimming lessons. She asked for 2 months if it was "June yet?" She was also a very overconfident big talker, declaring she would jump off the side into the pool etc. This all changed when she stuck her big toe in the water. At that moment the expression on her face changed from confidence to terror. She tried to tell Dan she was just going to watch the other kids. She finally loosened up a little with about 10 minutes left in the lesson. Then it was over and she cried because she didn't want to go home.
I think all 3 of us are curious about what will happen next week.

PICTURE NOT SHOWN
Riggs Family Picnic
We traveled to Dan's hometown last weekend to attend a friend's wedding on Saturday. Being the multi-tasker that she is, Dan's mom hosted our crazy family (including the dog) AND planned a picnic the following day. These are some pictures from the picnic :)

enjoying the weather..
Chef Bubba :)
Emma's Bubba helping her use the super soaker that
was way too big for her..
Emma and her cousin Carli (Carli is older than Emma..) playing
in the back of Bubba's truck.
They combine their girl power to make extra naughtiness
Emma and "baby Brayden" The unspoken sign that Emma loves you is that she will touch your "earg." She loves ear lobes. I'm not sure why... Holding baby B is uncle Don (Bubba's twin, otherwise known to Emma as "The Other Bubba"

Nanny's Garden
Emma just loves it at her Nanny and Bubba's! There is so much to do outside...so many flowers (to step on) and frogs (to chase)! I'm in envy of this garden. I have nothing short of the black thumb of vegetation death (aside from weeds of course).
How I Spent my 31st Birthday...
Exactly 31 years old...

Emma'isms
After telling Emma that the zoo was closed (because I didn't want to go), she went to school, asked her teachers if the zoo was closed, came home, and told me how excited she was that the zoo is OPEN! (yippie!). I asked her if she wanted to see the new Polar bear exhibit. The conversation...
Emma: What's a Polar bear?
Me: Well you know they are all white and very big. They live in the snow and love ice.
Emma: That's not a Polar bear.
Me: Yes, it is.
Emma: NO.ITS. NOT! (taking it a little too personal if you ask me)
Me: What is it then?
Emma: That's a SNOWMAN!!
Tonight I walked into the bathroom to find her with one hand holding the toilet lid open and the other delicately dangling my car keys over the ever-inviting toilet water.......
Me: Just what do you think you are doing?
Emma: No I wasn't (the lying thing is new) Can you give me back your keys mommy?
Me: I know exactly what you were thinking without you saying a word.
Emma: No.
Me: I can read alllllll the naughty things you think about doing (in the most convincing tone possible).
Me: You were going to drop my car keys in the potty.
Emma: (mighty impressed). Yes I WAS!!!
Me: That would make mommy very mad, Emma
Emma: No question about it!
Getting out of the car yesterday, I was trying to carry Emma...and all of her bags...and all of my bags.
I muttered..."Oh, Emma. Mommy needs a vacation".
She responds.... "I thought you said you needed a million dollars?" She hears everything!
And tonight....."Daddy is crying because he is a big baby"
